Early Learning and Forest Kindergarten
At Rain or shine School we have flexible class schedules to meet unique family’s needs. Our class schedule runs from September - May, with summer camp June - August. Contact us for more info!
Children under age 5 enrolled in our childcare programs may attend year round.

Nursery (spots are limited).
Infant Program (ages birth - 2).
The infant program is rooted in the principles of RIE, honoring the natural development, autonomy, and competence of each infant. We create a calm, unhurried environment where children are free to move, observe, and explore at their own pace with simple, natural, and open-ended materials.
Caregivers practice respectful, attentive interactions, supporting secure attachment and allowing each child’s development to unfold organically. Time is not rushed, and each moment is approached with presence and intention.
This program supports early movement, sensory awareness, and a strong foundation of trust and connection- without containers.
Children must be 4 months old.
Offered as a 4-day monthly option.
Tots in the Trees
Toddler Program (ages 2-3).
Tots in the Trees is grounded in the wonder and curiosity of early childhood. Children are given space to explore freely with organic, natural, and open-ended materials, allowing their interests to guide the day.
Inspired by Waldorf principles, Steiner education, and respectful caregiving approaches, this class supports developing independence, movement, and discovery.
Children must be at least 18 months old by September 10th of the Calendar Year.
Offered as a 2 or 4-day monthly option.
Saplings
Nature based Preschool (ages 3-4).
Our preschool program is rooted in imaginative play, rhythm, and connection to the natural world. Children engage in storytelling, music, art, and movement that support the development of the head, heart, and hands.
Inspired by Waldorf principles and Steiner education, this program nurtures creativity, social development, and a deep sense of belonging.
Children must be at least 3 years old by June 1st of the Calendar Year.
Offered as a 2 or 4-day monthly program, with a before and afterschool option available.
Pinewood Preschool
Nature based Preparatory Kindergarten (ages 4-5).
Pinewood Preschool offers a gentle introduction to forest school and nature-based learning, where children spend their days immersed in the outdoors exploring, creating, building, and connecting with the land.
Through seasonal rhythms, imaginative play, storytelling, and hands-on experiences, children develop confidence, resilience, creativity, and a deep sense of belonging within the natural world.
Children must be at least 4 years old by June 1st of the Calendar Year.
Offered as a 2 or 4-day monthly program, with a before and afterschool option available.
Forest Skola®
Forest Kindergarten | Grade 1 (ages 5+)
Forest Skola® offers a deeper immersion into forest school practices, where children spend extended time outdoors exploring, building, creating, and developing a meaningful relationship with the land. This program serves as a gentle bridge into formal Waldorf-inspired education while honoring the rhythms and wonder of childhood.
This mixed age class is rooted in educating the whole child through head, heart, and hands, children engage in meaningful handwork, Waldorf art processes, storytelling, nature-based learning, early mathematics, Spanish, and the foundations of phonetic awareness and writing. Through daily outdoor experiences, imaginative play, and hands-on learning, children build confidence, resilience, creativity, and a deep sense of connection to the natural world.
This class takes place in our forest classroom (24’ tipi).
Children must be at least 5 years old by June 1st of the Calendar Year.

Summer Camp
Summer Camp at Forest Skola® is open to children age 4 - 12. Each week we have a new summer theme. We offer this session in 2 or 4 day options. Learn more about our enrollment and tuition HERE!
